Most deodorants fight the wrong thing. Here’s what actually causes body odour — and how Axil deals with it at the source.
The problem
Sweat doesn’t smell. Bacteria do.
Fresh sweat is almost entirely water and salt. Straight from the gland, it has no smell at all.
Your underarms also have a second type of gland — apocrine glands — that release a richer sweat full of proteins and lipids. Still odourless on its own. But it’s the perfect food for the bacteria that live on your skin. That’s where the smell begins.
The cause
The exact bacteria behind the smell
Scientists at the University of York traced body odour to one main culprit: Staphylococcus hominis.
It carries a specific enzyme that converts that odourless underarm sweat into thioalcohols — some of the most pungent odour molecules the human nose can pick up. A trace amount is enough to smell strong.
So the real target was never your sweat. It’s this bacteria.
Why the usual fixes fall short

Why cold-pressed black seed oil
Axil’s hero ingredient is black seed oil (Nigella sativa) — used for centuries and one of the most researched botanical oils in the world. Its key active is thymoquinone, studied for its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
We use it cold-pressed on purpose. Heat extraction is cheaper but degrades the delicate actives; cold-pressing keeps the thymoquinone intact and potent.

Applied to the skin, black seed oil goes after the odour-causing bacteria directly. Fewer bacteria means less enzyme, which means no thioalcohols — so the smell simply never forms.
